Following the announcement that Olly Murs and Caroline Flack have been dropped as X Factor hosts after merely one series, several fans have been left wondering who will replace the amateurs, considering ITV’s favourite duo Ant & Dec have already said no. Alongside this, Steven Mulhern has also ruled himself out as a potential candidate to present the singing competition, explaining “it’s not right” for him.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the current Big Star’s Little Star host rejected the possibility: “The answer is no. No, I’m not. I haven’t been asked about it, there have been rumours about it, but no I’m not”. When asked if he would potentially change his mind if show boss Simon Cowell called, Mulhern responded: “I loved doing Britain’s Got Talent. To do The X Factor is not the right thing for me”.

Mulhern’s opportunity to become the latest host is put further into doubt after recent reports claimed Dermot O’Leary would be returning to present the X Factor after just one year away; with an insider revealing: “ Dermot will come back to The X Factor. Talks are under way on his deal but everything is positive”. Who would you choose?
