Juan Antonio Bayona May Direct ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel | Film News

Jurassic World

Colin Trevorrow won’t be back for the Jurassic World sequel due to his work on Star Wars: Episode IX. Since this was announced, speculation has begun for who will direct the follow-up to the wildly successful 2015 film. But according to sources at Deadline, they may already have a likely candidate.

Juan Antonio Bayona was set to direct the World War Z sequel, but scheduling issues have made him unable to continue his work on the project. This has opened up his schedule so he is now in the running to direct the Jurassic World sequel. While the script is yet to be finished, finding a director appears to be the next step for production if Universal wants to release it by June 22, 2018.
